- Helen 2.1 comes bundled now with JRE 1.6_07
Helen is available in different packages. The install packages with bundled Java Runtime Environments (JRE) are coming now with the newest JRE 1.6_07. Such packages exists for different system architectures and operating systems:
• Windows Family (2000, XP, Vista)
• Solaris SPARC
• Solaris Intel
• Linux Intel
There is also an install package without bundled JRE available.
JavaHelp 2.0_05 is included.
- Support for Vista
Starting with Helen 2.1 Vista is now a fully supported platform.
- New Installer / Signed Executables on Windows
When you right-click an executable file (Helen, HelpViewer or the installer)
on Windows, then you can select Properties, Digital Signatures to verify the digital signature of the installer and the executables,
which lets you identify the publisher and integrity of the file.
• digitally signed executables (Helen.exe / HelpViewer.exe)
• digitally signed installer executable
• new installer package; the installer (and only the installer) requires like other install
programs on Windows admin rights, e.g. to create the file type association for
.jhp files and to be allowed to install into the standard Windows program folder
- Exporting PDF
There are several improvements in the PDF export most noteably less memory
consumptions under certain circumstances.
• improved image sizing
• generally less memory consumption during PDF export
• PDF export: total page number disappears when there is no index
• improved transparency handling during a PDF export
• fixed: infinite loop during PDF export
• fixed: PDF export: hyperlink problems when nested tables with links are used
• improved page break insertion
• anchors can be used now
• multiple consecutive entries in the TOC referencing the same topic do create
only one page in the PDF output
- Import of Helpsets
• import of Helpsets with subehelpset-tags with wrong content possible
• avoids locked files now
- Online Help Systems without Index
It seems that sometimes there is the requirement to create an online help system without index: this is now fully supported by Helen.
- Fixed Problems
• when a new file is created the newly created index entry could get added
to the glossary instead of the index
• during rescan: when a new file is recognized an index entry could get
added to the glossary instead of the index
• copy/paste problems of index or TOC entries
• some UI glitches when using a Windows L&F on Vista or Plastic L&F on Windows
